Farhad Shami, director of the SDF media center, stated in a media meeting that Damascus government officials insist on the complete dissolution of the Syrian Democratic Forces, and this is their main condition for any political agreemen.

Farhad Shami stated that the interim government of Syria also demanded the end of self-governing administration in the north and east of the country and emphasized that government forces should be deployed in all areas.

Damascus has sent a message to the SDF, if it refuses to accept these conditions, it will take back these areas by force.

Regarding the fate of the armed forces of this group, Shami said that Damascus has stipulated that any member of the SDF who wants to join the Syrian army must take an admission test and then be evaluated for three months before a decision is made on his recruitment.

He added that most of the SDF forces have more than 10 years of combat experience and requested that the fighting men and women remain as a single force.

The spokesperson of the SDF also pointed to the behind-the-scenes cessation of attacks in northern Syria and said that at the end of the ceasefire period, US President Donald Trump contacted the head of the interim government of Syria, Ahmed al-Shara, and emphasized that the continuation of the war is not compatible with US interests in the Middle East and must be stopped.

According to Shami, the same message has been conveyed to the Syrian Democratic Forces and they have announced that they will remain on the defensive and will not initiate an attack.
