After the statements of the Turkish Foreign Minister, suspicious movements have started

Iraq and Kurdistan Region Service - The Shengal Autonomous Administration announced that after the threatening statements of the Turkish Foreign Minister, unusual movements were observed around this region and asked the Iraqi government to take a clear and serious position.

According to Kordpress, the self-governing administration of Shengal announced in a statement: Considering the deep and rapid changes that the Middle East is going through today, Shengal, as a strategic and sensitive region, sees its share of these changes and has once again faced a new and serious threat. Based on the available information, there are new and suspicious plans and scenarios against Shingal.

It is stated in this statement: After the threatening statements of Hakan Fidan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, unusual movements have been observed around Shingal and a number of people affiliated with the interests of the Turkish government are trying in various ways to disrupt the security of the region and create sedition among the social elements.

Shengal Self-Governing Administration emphasized: We as Shengal, which is a part of Iraqi territory, remind you that in the past years, when the government did not fulfill its duty to protect the Yazidis and our people were faced with the "black decree" (genocide), it was the people themselves who took responsibility for protecting their lives and land through their defense forces. However, today, instead of recognizing these forces of resistance, a policy is applied to destroy the will of our society, which is not acceptable in any way.

The statement continues: In connection with the current ambiguous situation, we send our message directly to the Prime Minister of Iraq, Muhammad Shia al-Sudani, and ask the government to take a clear and serious position against these dubious efforts. Because any military, political or social event that targets the lives of our people will bring a great disaster, and a society that still bears the scars of genocide cannot bear a new oppression.

According to this statement, the Shengal Self-Governing Administration, which has made great sacrifices for years to return to a free life by relying on forces such as (YBŞ, YJŞ and Asaish), has always declared its readiness for dialogue so that problems can be resolved through legal means. We are ready to resolve all issues within the framework of the law.

Another part of the statement states: "We have always tried to keep our society and the geography of Shengal away from the conflict field, but if any changes are imposed against the will of the people, we hold the Iraqi government as the first responsible." We ask all the peace-loving and anti-war parties to take a stand against these plans."

The self-governing administration of Shengal also asked the people, all political, social and military forces to defend the rights of the Yazidi people and all parts of Shengal, with national and powerful unity, and not to allow the warring parties to turn Shengal into a battlefield and destruction once again.

On August 3, 2014, during the ISIS attack on northern Iraq, this group captured the city of Shingal. During the following days, ISIS started genocide of Yazidis; He killed more than two thousand Yazidi men and enslaved thousands of Yazidi women. According to the United Nations report, during ISIS attacks in August, around five thousand Yazidi civilians were killed; An event known as the Yazidi genocide.

In November 2015, Kurdish forces and Yazidi armed groups, supported by US airstrikes, entered the city and took full control of it. In August 2017, the Yazidis of Shingal announced self-government in a press conference, and the Peshmerga forces withdrew from Shingal on October 17, 2017.
