According to Kurdpress, Mustafa Abdullah, the head of the Islamic Union faction, said in a press conference: "The agreement between the new generation and the Patriotic Union is a matter related to them. The new generation thinks that at this point it can enter the government and reach an agreement with the Patriotic Union; This issue is related to their own interests and cases, and they are free in this field."
He added: "Each party is free to enter into an agreement with power, but the propaganda about the number of seats and the possibility of forming a government does not match the reality. Earlier, the Kurdistan Democratic Party claimed that it has 43 seats and can complete the quorum without the Patriotic Union, while they themselves knew that this claim was not consistent with reality.
The head of the Islamic Ittihad faction continued: "Even now, the claim of the New Generation and the Patriotic Union of having 38 seats plus two minority seats and needing only 11 more seats to complete the legal quorum, is not a real claim and is not applicable for the situation of the Kurdistan Region.
Mustafa Abdullah stressed that efforts to remove the Kurdistan Democratic Party from the political equation and pass this stage without it, "is not easy in practice", because the Kurdistan Region is now governed by two administrations and two different security and financial systems.
He said: "If the goal is to deepen the climate problems in the current sensitive situation of the region, it is another matter; But we don't believe that this is the solution and every day we witness an issue that harms the unity of Kurdistan and healthy governance, without paying attention to its consequences.
After the release of Shaswar Abdulwahid, the head of the New Generation Movement, in the middle of last month, this movement approached the Patriotic Union, and then talks began about forming a new coalition in the Kurdistan Regional Parliament.
In this framework, Bafel Talabani, the head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, and Shaswar Abdulwahid, met each other twice.
