The sheikhs and elders of the Raqqa Arab tribes in northern Syria said in a statement on Saturday that Damascus should negotiate with the autonomous administration to resolve the Syrian crisis by participating in the drafting of a new constitution.
Ali al-Khumri, a prominent member of the al-Nusra Front in Raqqa, said Damascus should negotiate with the autonomous administration to find a solution to the Syrian crisis with other parties. He stressed the need for Arab delegations and politicians to visit northeastern Syria to directly observe the achievements of the autonomous administration and its ability to move the region towards progress.
Al-Wajiyah told the media that the government must accept the system and the decisions of the Autonomous Administration and the Syrian Democratic Forces, which has become a military force.
He pointed out that some foreign policies are not aimed at resolving the "Syrian crisis", but seek procrastination in order to achieve their interests.
"The autonomous administration has made many sacrifices to create a stable and secure area for the people, and therefore has the right to be equal to the government," said Mushlab al-Darwish, a prominent figure from the al-Afadila tribe in Raqqa.
Al-Darwish added that a decentralized management is the best solution for Syria, and that the experience of the self-ruling government is a "unique" model based on the foundations of pluralism and decentralization in the region.
Al-Darwish believes that the autonomous administration was able to revive from under the rubble in a short time. Therefore, it should be recognized as a partner in Syrian affairs. According to al-Darwish, negotiations with Damascus have principles and issues, including the recognition of the autonomous administration and the preservation of its achievements, as well as that it should be recognized as a partner in drafting the Syrian constitution.
"We are with the unity of Syria and oppose the occupation of Damascus," al-Darwish said.
He added: "We have a different political project and the councils and departments with their existing capabilities have provided what serves the interests of the people in the autonomous regions."
The tribe leader called on neighboring Arab countries to visit northeastern Syria and learn about the achievements of the autonomous administration. They need to get acquainted with them, because the region is a part of Syria.
