Iraqi PM designate to mediate between KDP, PUK

<p style="text-align: left;">According to Asharq al-Awsat daily Iraqi Prime Minister designate Adil Abdul Mahdi plans to mediate between the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), two ruling parties in Kurdistan Region.

The daily wrote on Monday that Abdul Mahdi plans to mediate between the two parties after tensions inflamed in their bilateral ties over the election of the PUK member Barham Salih as Iraqi president.

The daily stated that Abdul Mahdi wants to mediate between the two sides as their tensions would leave a negative impact on Erbil-Baghdad ties.
