Turkish president Erdogan in Tehran for official visit

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Iran’s capital Tehran on Monday night for an official visit.

Heading a high-ranking delegation of political and economic officials, the Turkish president is on a two-day visit to Iran upon an invitation by President Ebrahim Raisi, IRNA reported.
Raisi will officially welcome his Turkish counterpart at the Sa’adbad Palace on Tuesday when the two will attend a meeting of Iran-Turkey Cooperation Council.
The two presidents along with their Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, who will arrive in Tehran on Tuesday, July 19, are scheduled to hold talks on the crisis in Syria.
The talks will take place within the framework of the Astana peace process which Tehran, Ankara and Moscow initiated in 2017, aiming to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis.
Erdogan and Putin are set to hold a bilateral meeting in Tehran as well.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu discussed issues of mutual interest during a phone conversation on Saturday.
The top diplomats discussed issues related to political ties between the two countries, as well as the upcoming official visit to Tehran by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Iran on Monday.
Erdogan, heading a high-ranking delegation of Turkish political and economic officials, arrived in the Iranian capital on Monday evening.
His visit takes place upon an official invitation by President Ebrahim Raisi.
Erdogan will attend a joint meeting with Raisi and their Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Tuesday evening, which will take place within the framework of the Astana peace process aimed at resolving the years-long crisis in Syria.
