“The two graves contain the remains of 90 victims, most of them were Ezidis,” Mohamed Khalil, the mayor of Sinjar city said on Saturday, December 16.
Though the mayor did not say when the victims were killed, he blamed the Islamic State (IS) for their deaths.
There was no confirmation of the two mass graves by the Iraqi authorities.
Shingal is the traditional home of the Ezidis, a Kurdish community who are dominant in the Nineveh Province in northern Iraq.
Kurdish Peshmerga forces have seized control of Shingal in 2015, one year after IS overran the city in 2014.
