Gorran welcomes KDP-PUK agreement as "a good step"

<p style="text-align: left;">The Change Movement (Gorran) has welcomed Monday's political agreement between the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) to expedite the next government establishment, considering it "a good step."

"The Change Movement considers the KDP and PUK's agreement a good step and lead for this stage to serve the political process and interests of our nation and stability in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq," the party said in an official statement, BasNews reported.

A new agreement was signed on Monday by KDP Vice President Nechirvan Barzani and PUK Deputy Secretary General Kosrat Rasoul in latter&rsquo;s headquarter in Erbil to accelerate the formation of the next Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

According to the spokespersons of the two sides, the agreement is to resolve the issues over the future cabinet, post of Kirkuk governor, as well as the Iraqi justice minister. They, however, refused to give further details on the agreement, pointing out that the public will later know about the content after it is put into practice.

KDP spokesperson Mahmoud Mohammed additionally revealed that a joint committee was formed to supervise the implementation of the agreement.

"Mutual trust is the guarantee for any agreement. There is this mutual trust between us," he concluded.
