Germany to continue support to Kurdistan Region

<p style="text-align: left;">The deputy head of Africa and Middle East Affairs in German Foreign Minister met Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani and stressed on his country&amp;rsquo;s support to the Kurdish autonomous region in the north of Iraq.

According to KRG website Kristian Pak appreciated the Kurdish region in fight against the Islamic State and sheltering displaced people in the war and stated that Germany is willing to expand ties with the region.

Barzani, for his side, thanked Germany support to the Kurdish region during war against the IS and stated that Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan Region is ready to boost ties with Germany.

The political and military developments in the region, the formation of the new KRG government and relations between Baghdad and Erbil were the other issues that the two sides discussed in the meeting.

The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) reported that Pak also held a meeting with KDP Leader Masoud Barzani and the two officials traded view on the developments in Kurdistan Region and Iraq and ways to improve ties between the region and Germany.
