Military, security affairs to remain under control of ruling parties: official

<p style="text-align: left;">A leading member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) political office stated that the military and security affairs of the Kurdistan Region will remain under the control of the two ruling parties of the PUK and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).

The Movement for Change (Gorran) is reported to have planned to announce a member as the Kurdistan Region deputy head of military affairs.

Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa, the PUK official, said the Gorran move would not make any change in the reality of Kurdistan Region and the inclusive control of the military affairs by the two ruling parties.

The official added that the PUK and the KDP have military forces, including Peshmerga, security and police forces and the post claimed by Gorran should be given to a member from the PUK or the KDP.

According to a KDP- Gorran deal the deputy head post should be given to Gorran but the PUK is severely against the move.
