Baghdad to pay Kurdish employees salaries before Newruz: Abadi

<p style="text-align:left">Iraqi Prime Minister, Haidar al-Abadi said on Tuesday, March 6, that Baghdad will pay salaries of Kurdish public servants from a number of ministries in the next two weeks.

Abadi said during his weekly press conference that the audit of Kurdistan Region's payroll lists for those ministries has come to an end and the Kurdish public servants will receive their salaries before March 21, NRT reported.
He also said that a ban on the international flights to and from the Kurdistan Region's airports would be lifted &ldquo;in a near future.&rdquo;
The federal government seeks to reassert &ldquo;full control&rdquo; in the airports, he added.
In January, the government of Iraq sent a committee to the Kurdistan Region to audit the employees&rsquo; payroll lists in the ministries of the region.
Salaries for Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) employees have been plagued by delays since 2014 and Kurdish authorities have repeatedly said they cannot make payments due to a number of crises affecting the region.
