“Our party defends the idea that the new constitution our people deserve should be written from scratch, with the highest participation possible,” Davutoglu said.
Davutoglu added that the presidential system adopted in 2016 doesn’t provide democratic conditions, and was created with the goal of inflicting as much power as possible onto the legislative and judicial branches of government, Duvar reported.
“Considering the historical experiences of our country and its current demographic, we defend a parliamentary system that’s stripped of all influences,” Davutoglu said.
Davutoglu told that “libertarian secularism” and “pluralist religion” are among the fundamental principles of the party. ”
Davutoglu even promised to allow education in one’s native language, a sensitive topic of discussion for years in Turkey in the context of banning education in Kurdish.
Davutoglu said it’s essential to create “conditions to allow judges to be ignorant of defendants’ identity, ethnicity and authenticity” and said that a “comprehensice reform” would be organized to ensure the “swift and effective operation” of the judicial branch.
Davutoglu described his party’s economic policy as a model based on just economy and welfare. “Turkey’s “free democracy, years of experience in an open market, dynamic work force and prosperous geographical location are its biggest assets,” he added.
“In order to put these assets to work, we will adopt an open market economy that’s open to the world in our trade and capital moves,” Davutoglu said.
