Speaking to Kurdpress about the process of the negotiations between the Kurds in Syria and the central government, Abdulkarim Sarokhan stated that a delegation from Damascus visited Qamishli and met the representatives of some Kurdish political parties but no deal or agreement was made.
He added that no agreement was made after the meeting and the delegation only had talks with the Kurds over the local administrations, continuing to say that Damascus wants local administraions to rule the Kurdish regions in the north and north east but the Kurds suggested their current self-ruling democratic system and asked Damascus to consider it.
Neither the delegation nor the Kurds accepted the other side's demand but the two sides will consider the demanded projects.
Sarokhan stressed in the interview with Kurdpress that no serious negotiation has been made between Damascus and the Kurds and as all know Kurdish commander Mazloum Kobani has called for Kurdish-Kurdish talks as it is important for the Kurds to have a united stance in negotiations with Damascus.
The Syrian Kurdish official went on to add that Syria envoy to the UN Bashar al-Jaafari stated in the last Astana meeting that there is no Kurdish issue in the country and the government wants to pretend that the Kurds have no problem in Syria but we want our demands to be heard and a solution has to be found for the issue.
Russia can play an important role in the game but Moscow has failed to play its role properly and only seeks to fulfill Damascus demands.
