Turkey state-run Anadolu news agency claimed in a report three days ago that Italy has deployed forces to the regions, al-Amer oil field in particular, in order to back the Kurdish forces of Peoples’ Protection Units (YPG) and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
However, Masimo Carta, Italy defense ministry media advisor, told Defense Post news base that the report over the deployment of the Italian forces to the Kurdish regions are far from being right.
He reiterated that Italy has not sent a single soldier to Syria and sending any Italian troops to foreign states have to be allowed by the parliament.
The spokesman for the anti-IS coalition denied the deployment of any Italian forces to Syria although ‘Italy is one of the most important members of the coalition.’
