Speaking to reporters, ministry spokesperson Ahmed Mahjoub, however, said removing the PKK from the mountainous areas would be a very difficult mission because the Kurdish fighters have been stationing there since mid-80s.
He stressed that Baghdad also views the PKK as a “terrorist organisation”.
The spokesman also indicated Baghdad’s reluctance in sending ground troops to fight the PKK, noting that the cooperation between Baghdad and Ankara could come in other forms.
The statement comes as Turkey has recently stepped up the ground and air operations against the PKK inside the territories of Kurdistan Region, vowing to remove the Kurdish fighters from the Turkish border strip as Ankara sees them as a threat to its national security.
