Nouri al-Maliki says Kurdistan Region has no rights in Iraqi budget

The leader of Iraqi State of Law Coalition stated that the Kurdistan Region did not export its oil through Baghdad and therefore had no right in the central government budget.

Speaking about Erbil-Baghdad relations and the central government's commitments to the Kurdistan Region, Nouri al-Maliki, the leader of the State of Law Coalition in the Iraqi Parliament and former Itaqi Prime Minister, said that the Kurdish region had exported its oil independently in recent years.
Erbil did not deliver its oil to the Iraqi government, and for this reason, it has no right in the budget and the central government of the country, and it can not make any request to the central government, especially regarding the budget of the previous years, Maliki further claimed.
Noting that there are many differences between Erbil and Baghdad, Maliki added that the problem of the Kurdistan Region with Baghdad is not the right of the autonomous region, because the region has no right in the central government as it has not delivered its oil to Baghdad.
Maliki also stressed that the Iraqi budget does not seem to be approved because some deputies have stated that as long as the amount of the oil that Erbil should give to Baghdad in return for its budget share is not determined; the MPs would not approve the budget.
