Raising Kurdistan Region flag in Tehran is a historic development in Iran's position: politician

The head of the Syrian Kurdish Initiative Party welcomed the raising of the flag of Kurdistan Region at Tehran's Mehrabad Airport, dubbing it "a historic development in the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran."

According to Rudaw, Omar Ossi issued a statement in this regard and stated that the raising of the flag of Kurdistan Region at Mehrabad Airport during the welcoming ceremony of the Kurdistan Region President, Nachirvan Barzani, to attend at the inauguration ceremony of the Iranian President, was "a historic change in the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran and it is a great success for the Kurdish people and their struggles and martyrs in recognizing the Kurdish region within the framework of Iraq."

Omar Ossi is a former member of the Syrian parliament and a figure close to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The Syrian Kurdish political figure further added: "We call on the countries of the region and the world, such as Iran, to recognize the Kurdish region and welcome interaction with it. Because this will provide the basis for the comfort and stability of the region and the welfare and development of the nations."

It should be noted that Nechirvan Barzani arrived in Tehran on Thursday, August 5, at the head of a high-ranking delegation to attend the inauguration ceremony of the new president of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi. The flag of Kurdistan Region was raised during the welcoming ceremony of Nechirvan Barzani at Mehrabad Airport in Tehran.
