According to Kurdpress, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region pointed out that the Kurds have equal rights like other nations of the region - Arabs, Turks and Persians - and said that the Kurdish people deserve the right to self-determination.
He stated: "Kurds should not be prevented from speaking about their wishes and desires; It is a natural right and only those who do not respect diversity see Kurdish identity as an issue."
Masrour Barzani said about the situation of other Kurds that Kurds in other neighboring countries have their own political conditions and realities.
Regarding Syria, he emphasized on supporting the dialogue and said that the Kurds have suffered a lot in this country and "they deserve to be recognized and get their rights."
He also expressed hope that the peace process in Türkiye will lead to a stable solution and that the Kurds in Iran will get their deserved rights.
In another part of this conversation, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region emphasized the necessity of the real implementation of the federal system in Iraq and criticized that the budget and financial rights of the region are still used as a "political card", which is a violation of the constitution.
He also said about the post of the president of Iraq: "This position should be chosen based on the merit and will of the majority of the Kurdish people in order to represent the will of the people."
Masrour Barzani also warned that the threats of ISIS have not yet ended, because the foundations of the formation of this group, including injustice, poverty and marginalization, are still standing and have not been fundamentally resolved.
He added: "The continued presence of the forces of the international coalition led by the United States to support the internal forces in the fight against terrorism is a continuous necessity to maintain the stability of the region."
In the end, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region emphasized: "The climate of Kurdistan has always been part of the solution, not part of the problem."
He said that the region wants friendly relations with all its neighbors based on mutual respect and non-interference in each other's internal affairs, provided that the legal rights and the constitution of the Kurdish people are respected.
