The Secretary-General of NATO has announced that the defense ministers of the member states have ordered an increase in the number of their forces in Iraq.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has announced that member states' defense ministers have ordered an increase in troops in Iraq, according to Middle East News.

He told a news conference after a video conference of NATO defense ministers that the number of NATO troops in Iraq would increase.

He added that the exact number of troops could not be determined, but "it will be much more than it is now."

The NATO Secretary General added that “we are currently in the process of planning and coordinating details”, and stressed that a detailed plan to increase NATO forces in Iraq will be discussed at the next meeting of defense ministers.

He said that NATO had previously reduced the numbers of its troop in Iraq due to the Covid 19, and that it has now planned to send training and other forces to Iraq.
