Bafel Talabani, Russian envoy discuss formation of a new Iraqi government

The co-chair of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) said during a meeting with the Russian ambassador to Iraq that the party wanted to reach an agreement with other sides over forming a government that would serve people in Iraq.

Bafel Talabani, the PUK joint chairman, met with Russian Ambassador to Iraq, Ilbros Kovatryshov, as he has been meeting political and diplomatic figures and leaders in Baghdad in the recent days.

During the meeting, Talabani stated that despite differences and diverse opinions and positions, he predicts reaching an agreement with the PUK real partners who are concerned about national unity and preserving the culture of agreement.

He stressed that the PUK calls for an agreement in Iraq and the formation of an effective and service-oriented government in Iraq that serves all Iraqis and citizens without any discrimination.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral relations and mutual cooperation in line with bilateral benefit, and discussed the ongoing steps to form a new Iraqi government and the obstacles facing political parties in this regard.

Bafel Talabani further stressed that no problem or obstacle has been resolved without agreement and compromise, and that the best option is dialogue and negotiation.
