Meanwhile, the Coordination Framework officially announced the candidacy of Nouri Maliki, head of the Rule of Law Coalition, for the post of Iraqi Prime Minister and also asked the House of Representatives to "hold a special session to elect a president according to legal deadlines."

The post of Iraqi Prime Minister has been the share of Iraqi Shia parties since 2005, and except Nouri Maliki, none of the other Prime Ministers have been able to remain in this position for two terms.
