If requested by the majority of the coordination framework, I will withdraw from the nomination

Iraq and Kurdistan Region Service - The head of the Government of Law coalition and the candidate of the Coordination Framework for the post of Prime Minister of Iraq emphasized: He is willing to withdraw from this competition only if the majority of the Coordination Framework requests his withdrawal.

According to Kordpress, Nouri al-Maliki, the head of the Rule of Law coalition, in an interview with Al-Sharqiya channel on Tuesday evening, revealed new details about America's opposition to his candidacy for prime minister and the recent statements of US President Donald Trump in this regard.

According to Isna, he said: I am an Iraqi citizen and my nomination for the post of prime minister was made by an Iraqi institution, the "Coordination Framework", so it is not possible for me to withdraw from this nomination based on the request of a foreign country.

Al-Maliki added that Trump was misled by three countries and some internal parties about his candidacy for the third term as prime minister. Al-Maliki said: I heard that this tweet was written here, but I am still not sure of its authenticity.

The leader of the Government of Law coalition also emphasized that his candidacy will not expose Iraq to US economic sanctions and said that such claims are made with the aim of pressuring him to withdraw from this candidacy.

He further clarified that he is willing to withdraw from the candidacy for the prime ministership only if this request is raised by the majority of the members of the coordination framework.

Al-Maliki also said about the developments in Syria: Iraq is ready to cooperate with Ahmed al-Shara, the new president of Syria, and the nations of Syria and Iraq are brothers.

He added: If Islamic law can keep Damascus free from terrorism and terrorists do not move towards Baghdad, close relations between the two countries will be established in the future.

The coordination framework on Saturday evening once again emphasized its support for Maliki's candidacy for the head of government and declared that the choice of the prime minister is a purely Iraqi matter based on the constitution and should not be influenced by foreign pressure.

According to this report, the coordination framework is trying to adopt a single position on the Prime Minister's case; And that is in a situation where America has opposed Nouri al-Maliki's candidacy and consultations are underway to overcome these challenges and continue the political process.
